Waiting in the Wings: Free Actor Workshop with RSC

The Rosebriar Shakespeare Company (RSC) of Groveport, Ohio announces a free audition workshop, open to Columbus-area actors of all experience levels. Steve Emerson, director for the company’s upcoming production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, will lead the two hour workshop on Saturday, November 14 at 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Southeast Branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library located at 3980 S. Hamilton Rd. Groveport, 43125. Actors may bring a prepared monologue or receive a piece to work with during the workshop.
RSC and Emerson offer this workshop as part of the RSC Education Program’s ongoing commitment to offer audition preparation workshops before each audition. Auditions for Romeo & Juliet will be held Nov. 23 and 24. Workshop participants are not required to audition, but may sign up to audition at the workshop. Steve Emerson most recently directed RSC’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream to rave reviews and record audiences and is now appearing in the company’s production of Taming of the Shrew as Pertuchio. An Ohio native and Ashland University graduate, Emerson brings extensive Chicago acting experience, including work with Chicago Shakespeare, Strawdog Theatre, American Theatre Company, and many others. While living in Madrid, Spain, he performed for The English Theatre Workshop and served as Artistic Director for TransAtlantic Theatre Company, a bilingual theatre company. His work as a dialogue a coach for film and television includes credits with The Queen of Swords, One of the Hollywood Ten, with Jeff Goldblum, and John Malchovich’s The Dancer Upstairs.
